The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces several Civil Rights laws that prohibit discrimination                 based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and age in programs or activities that receive           federal financial assistance from The Department of Education (ED).  We literally wrote a handbook.

All participants receive an outline to follow with accompanying handouts.  We will discuss prior to seminars any specific focus points to include for each distinct group.  Due to the subject matter, our participants also receive a listing of resources and contact information to assist with (confidentially) any type of request for necessary additional help.

Due to the similar and overwhelming statistics regardless of the source, sexual harassment, sexual abuse, and sexual assault are a qualitative domestic issue.  There are major commonalities of these offenses which we discuss in both topics starting with correcting the severe lack of understanding of the actual terms and definitions. We converse about the legitimate concerns regarding the protocol and subjectivity of law enforcement and prosecutors (We include Title IX), which is the primary cause a staggering majority of victim's refuse to report.  We discuss the expertise and sincere intent of the survivors organized in assisting other victims and as the proponents of victims rights.  We bring up the harm in not reporting as these acts are rarely isolated or random, and in all likelihood cannot be corrected without extensive help and will repeat.  We go over the personality categories and signals of a perpetrator.  We encourage a conversation about victim emotions and states of being with guilt, blame, shame, anger, etc.  We involve the participants in communicating their personal beliefs and perception of social norms.  We emphasize the destructive collateral effect, how to possibly protect one's self prior, and how to care for oneself or another properly, and immediately thereafter.  We discuss the multiple choices and agencies available for the victim and proper methods of proceeding.  We engage participants in regards to post-traumatic effects. We are adamant in our pleas for those who have perpetrated or feel they could, to get assistance, We are generally booked two years in advance every April (SAAM), and October (DVAM), and due to the subject matter, as all our subject matter, we will always include in our handouts a contact list for additional (confidential) assistance.
